EURO 2008: Spain last night knocked out Germany to take their first major title in  44 years manifesting the skill that they’ve shown throughout the tournament. I couldn’t watch the match cause I was in the city of Saints and we don’t get football there. Anyway according to reports it was dominated by Spain as anticipated by most pundits including me even though I’m not really a pundit. Germany were again not in form and couldn’t create any chances of note. Spain got the lead thanks to Torres in the 33rd minute and kept it although it could have been a lot more had they taken their chances. Micheal Ballack couldn’t do much alone. He probably tried his best but failed to grab the second chance at the major trophy. The first being the 2006 World Cup final which the Germans lost as well.

Spain was definitely the best team to watch with their sublime one touch football and thoroughly deserved to win. They were a treat to watch. This will probably the last time I watch football until the next World Cup in 2010. Maybe Pakistan team will be able to qualify for the next World Cup. Who knows, miracles happen every day here.

EURO 2008: Russia’s EURO dream was ended by a formidable performance from Spain last night. They had gotten a 4-1 drubbing by Spain the group stages so it was always going to be tough.Russians were unable to duplicate the entertaining free style attacking game that  has seen them progress through this tournament.  Remember the way they played against Netherlands. That was missing in this match. Spain started the match a little nervously but  started to dominate soon. Their real dominance began when Spanish star David Villa got injured and was substituted for Fabregas. Fabregas’s superb midfield play was too much for the Russians who found it hard even to get their hands on the ball in the second half. They were completely outplayed. Fabregas was on song as he set up two of Spain’s goals with some superb passing game. Russians were sloppy with their passing. Even when they got the ball they lost it quickly. And Spain made them pay. Even though it was a largely one-sided match the immaculate skill demonstrated by the Spanish was a treat to watch. Fabregas was the stand out player in midfield who kept the ball rolling and Russians could never get going.

Spain had 65% possession as compared to only 35% for Russia. Spain got 12 shots on target while Russia only got 4. Its going to be a Germany, Spain final. The Germans will need to pick up their game if they are to beat this Spanish side. They have the mental strength and a reasonable amount of skill so it should be a good contest. Spain would probably start favorites. Too bad I can’t watch it on Sunday. Cause I would be out of range.

First off it was a brilliant match. Kept me up at night till  3am. There were some sort of technical difficulties in the 2nd half which resulted in the loss of transmission all over the world. So that ruined things a little bit. But overall it was a great match. Germany won it in the end predictably but not as easily as one would have imagined. With a decimated team Turkey started the match with all guns blazing putting pressure on the Germans right from the word go. The Germans looked complacent in the first half probably expecting the Turkish to roll over. But that was not to be. Turkey created lots of chances constantly attacking the German goal even hitting the goal posts on 2 occassions. Ugur Boral finally got one in after 22 minutes but Schweinsteiger equalized on a cross from Podolski in an almost repeat of the goal against Portugal. Turkish inexperience showed and they were only able to get one goal in the first half despite having numerous chances. A better team would have murdered the Germans.

The second half saw Germans gain control. They showed why they have performed so well in international competitions over the years. The Turks didn’t look the same. Maybe they got tired or something. The match seemed to be going to overtime until Klose headed Germany in front thanks to a horrible mistake by Rustu who was left in no man’s land, failing to come forward or stay back. Klose outjumped the defenders and headed the goal. Actually the first goal by Schweinsteiger was also due to some poor marking by Turk defenders. But Semih Senturk levelled after just 4 minutes with a superb goal to reel Turkey back in to the match. Again after 90 minutes the match looked to be heading towards extra time but Lahm used some great passing with Hitzlsperger to fire one in over the diving Rustu to end Turkey’s hopes of a final. Germans will need to pick up their game if they hope to beat either Russia or Spain in the final.

Clipx is a tiny and simple clipboard history manager. Its probably the best out there. Its the one I use anyway. One of the few tools I install whenever I use a start a new development environment. It runs in the background and remembers everything you copy. One you press the hotkey Ctrl+Shift+V(in my case), voila you get the whole list of copied items to paste at your will.

With the kind of ’software development’ that I do, copy paste is the order of the day. So if you still use the one copy clipboard that comes default in windows, shame on you cause you live in the stone age. If you want to be the tool you have to learn to use the tool. Delegate your toolness so to speak. If any of you have a better clipboard manager do speak up.

This is the first entry. The very first of its kind. Don’t worry there will be more unless I die suddenly or get jailed for a crime I didn’t commit. Anyhoo welcome to my blog. I have no idea what I will be writing on this blog, yet. But hopefully it will be really boring stuff that nobody wants to read. At least thats my objective. To have exactly 0 visitors over a reasonable period of time. I hear 90% of all blogs fall into this category anyway. Mine will too, hopefully.
